About this deal

Thanks to Warhammer Community we know there are seven new Battleforces for Age of Sigmar! This is huge because starting in 2016, there were only eight battleforces altogether for both AoS and Warhammer 40k total! Also, it’s interesting to note that Necrons in 2020 and Orks in 2021 were actually probably the newest released factions to grab a box (even though it had been months since their new codex dropped at that point). Games Workshop recently dropped all sorts of teasers about the upcoming 2022 Christmas releases, including something spicy about battleforces!

So expect more on these very soon, and get ready to save those hobby dollars for what is normally the first week of December release date! What We Know About Warhammer Battleforces Since 2016 Looking at this list, a few boxes of the same army (especially for 40k) come out almost every year, like Space Marines and Nids. It seems that lately, AoS has newer factions (but this year it looks like some repeats), whereas Warhammer 40k is a mix of both newer and older (like Guard in 2020). Our fantasy figure range consists of Goblins, Dwarves, bits, bobs and things that go bump in the night..... Determined to prove my pals wrong and simultaneously hypnotised by the colour gold, I took the plunge with the Start Collecting! Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Brotherhood box – which, once upon a time, came with a handful of Khorne miniatures in the the original Age of Sigmar Starter Set. The Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Spearhead battleforce is an excellent collection of miniatures, perfectly suited to expanding the force included in the Dominion boxed set, or any of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar starter sets - alternatively the strikeforce offers an interesting combination of units that can be used to start an entirely new army.If you like what we’re doing here you could really help encourage more content with a share on any social media platform. Through laughter and carbonated tears, he informed me that Stormcast Eternals were, without doubt, the most boring faction to build and paint ever created by Games Workshop. “They’re all just so dull!” he said, before telling me to stop wasting my time and to get something interesting and fun like Kharadon Overlords or, better yet, scrap Age of Sigmar altogether and buy some 40K stuff instead. When I told a Seraphon-collecting friend of mine I was planning on getting some of the God-King’s finest, he simply looked at me like I was an idiot. For the advanced painter looking to hone their skills, or someone searching for a faction with an array of models, there’s little joy to be found in the Stormcast Eternal range.

Cross out all the mean-looking dudes in red armour on the right-hand side of the old starter box and you’ve got the Thunderstrike Brotherhood.Start Collecting Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Brotherhood The Thunderstrike Brotherhood box in all its blue-and-gold glory. As I was going, I got to know the models. I began to learn their shapes and the patterns in their construction. Piecing together the Liberators was a brilliant confidence-building exercise for a brand-new hobbyist like I was – the models in the Start Collecting! kits are not as idiot-proof as the push-fit miniatures and are assembled with glue, which allows for just enough variable options to give the newly-initiated the freedom they need to make their first units their own.

Sigmar’s chosen champions sally forth in a mighty spearhead, clad in shining Thunderstrike armour. Noble heavy infantry march for the front, led from the skies by a Knight Draconis on a noble Stormdrake mount, accompanied by a fellow Stormdrake Guard. Vanquishers wielding celestial greatswords and Vigilor archers are guided by a righteous Knight-Relictor, while elite Annihilators stand by to crush the heaviest opposition. This stalwart band of warriors are capable of taking on much larger forces, each of them more than a match for several times their number in lesser soldiers. Obviously, there were some rumors disproven about what armies will actually be included for Battleforces in 2022, but there’s plenty to see now for what is coming this year for Christmas!

This Battleforce contains 26 miniatures, all clad in dashing metal suits, including two mighty Stormdrake Guard on their draconith steeds. Christmas is coming. We’ve already seen this year’s new Warhammer 40,000 Battleforces, and it’s time to see what’s inside the Warhammer Age of Sigmar sets. Whichever Grand Alliance you’re a fan of, there’s a box for you. Daughters of Khaine: Khainite Slaughter-Coven Rob has spent most of the last 15 years playing World of Warcraft and writing stories set in made-up worlds. At some point, he also managed to get a Master's degree by writing about Medieval zombies. The fact these models have been chosen for inclusion is clever: the familiar Liberator shape transfers from model to model, but the handful of small differences from unit to unit keeps challenging the novice builder and requires slightly more thought each time – but is never so much as to be intimidatingly difficult. For a beginner, confidence grows with each successful model built, and before long, and without too much trouble, you’ll have eighteen warriors ready for a splash of colour. Stormcast Eternals: Thunderstrike Brotherhood – Painting

The design of the minis found in the Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike box is, as discussed above, underrated. Whilst more experienced painters looking to add to their collections, as well as die-hard Old World fans, may see as the models’ weaknesses, are the faction’s strengths for the newbie: the fact each model is so straightforward in its design and similar to the next means that they are the perfect range for the newcomer, whilst simultaneously the skilled hobbyist can create some truly incredible conversions, and in a truly talented pair of hands, even the unassuming Sequitor can become a thing of true beauty – take a look at Longleaf Miniatures’ incredible Dark Souls-inspired Lion-Knights of Sigmar. These Age of Sigmar boxes were revealed, alongside their 40k cousins, on Monday November 7 in a Warhammer Community article. The announcement didn’t deign to give a release date or price however.

Obviously, some repeat SM (some flavor of Marine), Chaos (of sorts), and Xenos. However, this year there somehow isn’t a single Xenos faction included… In spite of the faction’s mixed reception within the Warhammer community, the Start Collecting! Stormcast Eternals Thunderstrike Brotherhood may well be the best place to enter Age of Sigmar for a new hobbyist. Stormcast Eternals: Thunderstrike Brotherhood – Introduction
